How it works

How to convert JPG to SVG

  1. Add your images

Drop JPG files into the box above, or press Choose files. You can add as many as you like.

  2. Pick colors and detail

Fewer colors give a cleaner, smaller SVG. Higher detail follows the edges more closely. Press Apply settings after a change to trace again.

  3. Download

Save each file on its own, or download everything at once as a ZIP file.

Why

Why convert JPG to SVG?

An SVG stays sharp at any size, and for logos, icons and simple illustrations it is often far smaller than a JPG. ConvertOrino traces the shapes and colors in your JPG and rebuilds them as real vector paths, ready for websites, design tools, cutting machines and print.

Formats

About the formats

What is JPG?

JPG (also written JPEG) has been the standard format for photos since 1992. It uses lossy compression, which keeps files small by discarding detail the eye barely notices. It cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become a solid color.

What is SVG?

SVG describes shapes as code instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size, and a simple logo or icon often takes only a few kilobytes. Web developers use it for logos, icons and illustrations, and design tools and cutting machines read it too. Many apps, social networks and document editors still only accept pixel images such as PNG and JPG.

Questions

Questions and answers

Is it safe to convert my files here?

Yes. ConvertOrino converts your files with code that runs in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, nobody else can see your files, and they are gone as soon as you close the page.

Is this a real vector SVG or just a JPG inside an SVG?

A real vector. The image is traced into filled shapes, so you can scale it to any size, change colors in a design tool or edit the paths. Many converters only wrap the original pixels in an SVG file, which looks the same but turns blurry when you enlarge it.

Which images work best?

Logos, icons, signatures, drawings, text and illustrations with clear edges and a limited number of colors. Photos can be traced too, but they turn into a poster style picture and a large file, so for photos JPG or WebP is usually the better format.

What do the Colors and Detail settings do?

Colors sets how many colors the SVG may use. Pick 2 for a black and white logo or signature, and 16 or more for colorful illustrations. Detail sets how closely the shapes follow the edges of the original. Higher detail looks closer to the JPG but makes the file larger.

Can I use the SVG with a Cricut or a laser cutter?

Yes. The SVG is made of closed, filled shapes that cutting and engraving software can read. Choose 2 colors for the cleanest result, then delete the background shape in your cutting software if you only want the design.

How do I use the SVG on a website?

Use it like any image in an img tag or as a CSS background, or paste the SVG code straight into your HTML. It scales to any screen without extra files for high resolution displays.

Is the JPG to SVG tool free?

Yes, completely free. There is no sign up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, because your own device does the work. Very large files are limited by the memory of your device. Phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, computers handle much more.

Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows?

Yes. It works in any modern browser, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the conversion works without an internet connection, which also proves that your files are not sent anywhere.
