  2. Wait a moment

Why

Why convert TIFF to JPG?

TIFF files from scanners and archives are large and do not open in most browsers, phones or upload forms. JPG makes them small and viewable anywhere. Every page in a multi page TIFF becomes its own JPG.

Formats

About the formats

What is TIFF?

TIFF is a flexible image format from 1986 used by scanners, fax software, publishers and archives. It can hold several pages in one file and is often uncompressed, which makes files large. Browsers other than Safari cannot display TIFF, so it is usually converted to JPG, PNG or PDF for sharing.

What is JPG?

JPG (also written JPEG) has been the standard format for photos since 1992. It uses lossy compression, which keeps files small by discarding detail the eye barely notices. It cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become a solid color.

Questions

Questions and answers

Is it safe to convert my files here?

Yes. ConvertOrino converts your files with code that runs in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, nobody else can see your files, and they are gone as soon as you close the page.

What happens to multi page TIFF files?

Each page is converted to a separate JPG. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP file. To keep the pages together, use TIFF to PDF instead.

Which TIFF files are supported?

Uncompressed TIFF and the common compressions, including LZW, ZIP (Deflate), PackBits, JPEG and CCITT fax.

Is the TIFF to JPG tool free?

Yes, completely free. There is no sign up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, because your own device does the work. Very large files are limited by the memory of your device. Phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, computers handle much more.

Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows?

Yes. It works in any modern browser, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.

Is hidden metadata such as location removed?

Yes, by default. Location, camera details and other EXIF data are removed from every converted image. For JPG output you can untick Remove metadata to keep the date taken and camera details instead.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the conversion works without an internet connection, which also proves that your files are not sent anywhere.
