About the formats
What is Excel?
XLSX has been the Excel format since Office 2007. A workbook can hold many sheets, and keeps numbers, dates and formulas. ConvertOrino reads the values Excel saved for each cell, also from older XLS files and LibreOffice ODS files.
What is CSV?
A CSV file is a table saved as plain text, one row per line with the values separated by commas. In countries where the comma is the decimal mark, such as Sweden and Germany, Excel uses semicolons instead. CSV has no formatting, formulas or multiple sheets.

Is it safe to convert my files here?

Comma or semicolon?
Comma is the standard. Choose Semicolon if the CSV will be opened in Excel in a country that uses the comma as decimal mark, such as Sweden or Germany.
Are formulas kept?
CSV only holds values, so each cell gets the result Excel last saved for the formula. Dates are written in the international order of year, month and day.
Is the Excel to CSV tool free?
Yes, completely free. There is no sign up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, because your own device does the work. Very large files are limited by the memory of your device. Phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, computers handle much more.
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows?
Yes. It works in any modern browser, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the conversion works without an internet connection, which also proves that your files are not sent anywhere.
