What is M4B?
M4B is the audiobook version of M4A: AAC audio in an MPEG-4 container, usually with chapter marks so players can remember your place. Many MP3 players, car stereos and Android apps do not recognize the .m4b extension. Audiobooks bought with copy protection cannot be converted.
What is MP3?
MP3 is the most widely supported audio format in the world. It uses lossy compression to make files roughly a tenth the size of uncompressed audio. At 192 kbps or higher most listeners cannot tell it apart from the original.

Is it safe to convert my files here?

Are the chapters kept?
No. MP3 files have no chapter marks, so the audiobook becomes one long MP3 with the title and author kept. Most players remember the position anyway.
Can I convert audiobooks from Audible or Apple Books?
Not if they are copy protected. Protected audiobooks cannot be converted. M4B files without protection, such as ones from Libro.fm or your own recordings, work fine.
Are the title, artist and album kept?
Yes. Tags such as title, artist, album and year are copied to the new file wherever the format can store them. Embedded cover art is not copied.
Is the M4B to MP3 tool free?
Yes, completely free. There is no sign up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, because your own device does the work. Very large files are limited by the memory of your device. Phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, computers handle much more.
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows?
Yes. It works in any modern browser, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing needs to be installed.
